As far as SQ at lower speeds the hertz are hands down better quality over the tms69's. At speed (70+) SQ goes by the wind and volume takes over.
I found and bought some cpx 690, so do you still use the spray or netting on these?

I tested a bunch of quality brand 6x9's and for overall sound the Hertz MPX won in my opinion, closely followed by the ARC 6x9's. When i installed them on my bike i took some of the speaker cloth that SBates mentioned, treated it with camp dry, and layed it over the speaker and screwed the speaker in place. I think that that would be sufficient, but the speakers didn't stay in the bike long enough for me to confirm it as a solid fix, but i am of the opinion that is should be good. if the weather is your big issue, the ARC 6x9 or the DD VO 6x9 is your ticket, these I have wet tested and they came up winners.
