I have a set of polks for sale now, very good fairly cheap option, I replaced them with the hertz 6x9, much better sound but 3 times the cost and not waterproof, there are lots of options in between, depending on budget

If you are in the rain a lot then those polks will provide just about the best all around performance from a full range 6x9. The hertz mpx 690.3 have about the best sound (on my old ears) but are more money and are not water proof.

I was going to say my favorite 6x9s are the ones I get cheap from these guys when they upgrade!

I also have the Polks and like them. I got the ones with the separate crossovers though so I didn't have to worry about them getting hot. I just stuck them to the underside of the lid beneath the strap.

I love my Polk mm692’s. I believe Gypsye about the Hertz though. I’m just nervous about spending $300 for those Hertz and them not being weather resistant. I guess you could always wrap them with speaker cloth and camp dry. But, I’m very happy with my set up. You’d be hard pressed to find a car stereo that sounds as good.

I have 4 Memphis 6.5 with a aftermarket deck. It’s loud but wouldn’t mind having something behind me to equal it out

Short answer is the VO 6x9, but what are your end goals, where will they be mounted? Those answers may change my answer.

I will tell you that I had a set of polks mm1 in my lids and they got real hot. So hot that it melted the covers off the cross over. For that reason, I cant recommend them. Now this may be an isolated problem and I was running them off the tm400x4ad rear channels. Bags had some stuff (jacket and sweatshirt) in the one side that melted but no where near the speaker its self.
