Those hcx's are solid. Tailwind has tried the new mmats and motos gen2 and so has marco. Marco likes the mmats and Tailwind likes the motos gen2. I have put the hcx in several fairings with great results and when tuned properly you just cant blow them and they can be heard at any speed.

 

What amp would you pair with the hertz? Also, I was thinking, why does motorcycle audio tend to favor brands that aren't the more revered brands in car audio (JL, cerwin vega, MTX, JBL, etc)?

 

I have used and recommended JL and CV amps. Most here will recommend them also. As far as JBL, MTX, and others, for me there was a time those company didn't produce a real high quality 6.5 (which started all the currant audio trends on HD scooter). So once you find a higher quality 6.5 then you tend to try a new version from the same manufacturer. Same with manufactures that have had not so good quality form their speakers. Once you have a bad one, you tend not to try any new stuff from them. As many different speakers as there are out there, there has to be a diamond in the rough just waiting to be discovered. The problem with that is, guys come on here looking for advice and the regulars will give advice on what they know and/or have run. Some venture out to try new stuff like Marco but skepticism still lingers with some. Hope that might explain why we keep referring what we do.
