Speaker set up in street glide
Okay, I’m new to the group and stereo systems on Harley’s but thinking of this set up. Looking for some opinions. So I’m thinking of running Hertz speaker set up as follows
soundigital 1200.4 Evo amp hertz MPX 165.3 fairing SPL 200.1 lids ST35 lids SPL 200L bags thoughts?? |
I don't think that amp will push all of what you have. even with fun wiring options. you need more channels. The SPL200 will take more than 2 channel can give right off the bat.

Thanks Juice, I am actually running the Rockford T400x4ad amp now and was just talking with a guy about just adding another one of them. should give me plenty of power then, I'm thinking.

That RF am puts out the same in 4 ohm or 2 ohm and would not be enough to push those 8 inch Hertz well. I would rethink that amp! And with the choice of speakers given, a DSP would definitely be needed.

Looking at specs on bigger amps looks like they’re pushing same or similar wattage per channel. Was thinking of adding 2-channel RF t400x2ad amp to 200L and push about 140W to 8’s and tweeters with 4 channel. Think I need more power?

Was looking at this bench test someone posted rating amps and also looked up each amp.
4-channel amps BT4180 (180W @ 4 ohm; BT claimes unofficial ~220W @ 2ohm) 2 ohm: not measured - see test report for more details 4 ohm: ~150Watt PPI P4.900 (225W @ 2 ohm) 2 ohm: ~220Watt 4 ohm: ~150Watt PA RZ4-2000D (specs call out for 250W at 2 ohm, which is complete BS as we all know) 2 ohm: ~140Watt 4 ohm: ~91Watt NVX NVPA4 (100W @ 2 ohm) 2 ohm: ~107Watt 4 ohm: ~62Watt SS PN 4.1000D (250W @ 2 ohm; 150W @ 4 ohm) 2 ohm: ~237Watt 4 ohm: ~140Watt 2-channel amps BT2180 (180W @ 4 ohm; BT claimes unofficial ~220W @ 2ohm) 2 ohm: not measured - see test report for more details 4 ohm: ~150Watt RF T400x2 AD (200W at 2 ohm; birthsheet of amp showed 291 at 2 ohm) 2 ohm: ~260Watt 4 ohm: ~150Watt |
I ran the mpx coax in the fairing and the SV200.1 and ST 35 in the lids, all off of 4 RF TM channels. Nowhere near loud enough at speed. For me anyway.

You have your mind made up, go with the RF amp. Your money, your bike.
Juice I’m running a tm400x2 and tm400x4 and it’s loud and clear rolling down the big road. |
