2015 FLHTK Electra Glide Limited
I'll preface this by saying that I've read every thread post here since late 2018 as it applies to audio upgrades on a Rushmore Electra Glide Limited. A short back story........... My wife's cousin (who also happens to be a guy I played ball with in my younger years) took a road trip with us to Topeka a couple of weeks ago. Four of the eight other bikes that made the trip with us had audio upgrades that I had spec'd out and installed. Shortly after that road trip my wife's cousin (Justin) hit me up about an audio upgrade on his 2015 Electra Glide Limited. And while I consider myself a fairly well seasoned novice on Road Glide audio upgrades, I'm an amateur when it comes to the bat wing bikes. Accordingly I've come to the experts.
Budget: $1,000 max
Music Genre: Mostly classic rock
DSP: No
Major modifications acceptable: No
Component or Coax: Coax
Speaker Locations: Fairing and Tourpak
Head Unit: OEM HD 6.5GT
AMP: Stinger SPX700X4 (mounted above stock HU)
BT355 x2
My main question concerns the fairing and tourpak speaker selection. I was originally leaning towards Hertz HCX 165.3 all the way around. But looking at the mounting depth I don't think those will fit in the tourpak, and I don't think they will go in the fairing without using the BT pod eliminators or other pod modifications. So what I'm primarily looking for are two pairs of coax speakers that will handle the SPX700X4, and that will mount with a minimum amount of modification to the platform. Tourpak speakers must be weather resistant or water proof, but I'm a bit more flexible on the fairing speakers.
Suggestions from the experts?

I'm a Road Glide guy too so I can't help with the fairing but... For my tour pack I ended up with the Vtwin adaptors to be able to fit my MMats coax in there. They have an advertised (did not measure myself) mounting depth of 2.5". Just to give you an idea of what you can fit in there with the adaptors.

MMats coax will drop right into the front fairing pods. They will not plug directly onto the oem harness. The tabs are too big. Will need to crimp on new disconnects or do what I did and make up a short jumper harness to plug between OE connectors and speaker, in case you ever want to return things to stock. Also, will need hogtunes or equivalent grills to accommodate the added height of a coax speaker.
Other than that, the MMats fit beautifully.
I went with the Polk MM652 (non component set) for the TP pods. They would not fit without a bunch of modifications to the included spacer rings and modifications to the speaker basket holes. I would not recommend. Major pain in the @ss. But, they do sound alright.

Do you think the MMATS PA601cx would fit into the tour pak pods using just a 1/4 or 1/2" spacer?
As for installation in fairing pods........ I'm assuming that you installed them outside the pods just like the factory speaker installation? Any evidence that the clearance will damage the surround cone or otherwise rip the speakers?

I have no evidence of damage to the cone or otherwise

1/4" is not going to cut it. The Vtwin adaptors are 3/4" and I still had to clock the right side so the branding was not strait (not that it bothers me but it may some). I also chose to go with the adaptors because they look way better than just tossing a spacer behind them. Plus the metal grills look good too. I know $100 for a spacer is a tough pill to swallow but I am very happy I spent the extra coin for them.

Thanks everyone. I sent the shopping list to Justin and looks like he is all in. Here's what he will end up with if nothing else changes in the next 24 hours or one of the other experts here tells me I've gone crazy @Tailwind ; @Gannicus ; @haze324 @Ndfastln ; @travelingypsye ; @Babyboy et. al.

This is very close to what I am running in my RGU except I have the MMats 4110 amp and the Sony 5000 radio. I am very happy with these speakers.

Considering what the BT Ultra breakout connector ran him, he could have almost half way paid for a Sony 5000. He wanted to keep the stock head unit though, so that's the route we went.
