Sirius XM app question
I have been thinking of doing this anyway because of the inconsistency. Before I could have msgs read to me, send msgs and send-receive calls easily. Now it doesn't notify me of msgs to even try to have them read to me. Not about to go looking at them, while on the road. The WHIM doesn't seem to have been as good an idea as I thought. I can leave the WHIM in there but just not use it. I will see if SIRI will change channels on the app, going that route.
I will post results.
I posted some comments in the audio section. Got a mw bike and wanted to see how I could run android auto plus my music. Since the new bike is not at my house yet, I did this with my car.
First, I put all of the music on the storage SD card. The loaded a VLC app - this played my music on the phone. Next, I plugged the phone into the car and, android auto came up. I could see the maps plus the music was playing.
So, I wanted to see how I could go to the next song - and said, hey google, play new song. It did.
Well, let’s see what else google can do. so, I said, hey google, play amazon music - and it did. Well, that worked so I said he google, go to XM radio - it did. I was no channel 50 and said, hey google, turn to XM channel 07.
ALL of this worked well on my car. Can't try it on the new bike because it is not here. Old bike is in the garage ready for pickup tomorrow. I am not going to try it there - but I am thinking that I can press the comm button on the handlebars and speak to my phone just like I would if I were making a call of changing a channel.
Hope this helps. Give it a try and let me know. I will do more work once my bike arrives.
Am not sure if newer GTS systems will do what you say, with this app, or maybe google is a better system than siri. Does your car have XM radio? I have a 2005 Accord that came with XM and I can also use voice, thru the car, to play the radio, or XM while it is navigating. Just not the bike.
Most likely, if I had the HD XM unit, and an XM subscription for the bike, I could probably just push the control button and speak it as well.

Streaming music was never a problem. So, I plugged my phone into the USB port and turned it on - when I went to media, I saw my phone twice, once as Bluetooth and once as USB. I played it as USB and all was good. When I said, hey google, nothing happened.
OK, so I wondered what would happen it I turned Android Auto on. Now remember, this is my 14, so, like you, I don't have android auto. Still, I turned in on my phone, AA came up and the music played.
Then I said, hey google, stop and it did. I said hey google, change channels and it did. I said hey google got to channel 7 and it did.
It may be google - but, I might suggest your try this. Even though you don't have car play, open car play on your phone, lay xm radio and then ask Siri to change the channel. It might be that car play or Android auto provides some missing links

I think I have decided to not get a CB on this bike - so, if i move to wireless headsets, then my wife and I can still talk. Also, if I go wireless, that means I can bluetooth my wireless headset to my phone. I think if I do that, then I can give my phone commands - just as if I were sitting in my car giving commands.
Since it is still winter, there is a motorcycle audio shop not too far from me in Ohio. Think I will give them a call and see what they say - perhaps they have some ideas.
