Default Boom Audio Saddlebag Lid Speaker Kit?

Has anyone tried the HD Boom audio saddlebag lid rear speaker kit? I have the Boom audio amp/fairing speaker upgrade already installed on my Streetglide and thinking about adding the rear kit. Thanks-Mort

Suggestion: Post your question on the Touring forum; similar audio questions are posted there where they receive far more views and responses.

As for an answer, I'm doing the kit but w/o using the HD speakers (by ordering the lids, grilles, and baskets separately) because I'm using a 4 ohm impedance amp, and the speakers in the HD kit are 2 ohm impedance. I expect it will be a nice audio enhancement for riding around town, but expect little value from it at interstate speeds--but, I'll be pleasantly surprised if the speakers in the lids are useful at interstate speeds.

Also, on the 2012 CVO SG, the speakers in the lids have a separate two-channel amp rated by HD as 100W per channel which is signifanctly more powerful than the 40W per channel of the HK amp.

FWIW, the 40W per channel amp is what is used on the CVO Ultras since '06 and I haven't read of widespread dissatisfaction with that amp; said another way, most CVO Ultra owners are content with 40W per channel power, and you may be also.

Good luck with your research.

We installed the boom audio saddlebag lid speakers, boom amp and iPod module in my road glide today. I am very impressed with the volume, sound clarity and the amount of bass this system has.
