Kinda hard to expect a whole lot out of crappy speaker to begin with but then add the fact they're only rated at 60w of power and you wind up feeling the way you do.

go with rockford pbr300x2 amp and jl audio C5-650x speakers they sound amazing and can be heard from blocks away.
talk to this guy he is very helpful on instillation plus he has a great way to mount the amp securely to the bike.

Had the dealer flash my radio today from the stock now that I have the amp and speakers, and that did make a big difference. Much less midrange, and more control on the eq.

Do you know if the Infinity 62.11i speakers fit in the 14's, particularly the tweeter clearance from the boom grill? or if the Infiniti grilles will work

Ok. I have seen threads for changing speakers and adding amps. Is there a thread on changing out the primary problem on 14 touring? The head unit. Since this isnt the thread on what a POS it is I will save everybody my rants. Is there a head unit out there that is plug and play and is compatable with Pandora (my $100 JVC in my truck does this)? The text features are not important but would be nice. And being able to connect to any smart phone (see JVC rave) would be good too. Thanks

What set up did you go with and what flash did the dealer do?

I haven't seen any aftermarket manufacturers with replacement head units for the 14s yet. I'm sure it won't be long but nonetheless you 14+ guys are pretty much stuck with what you've got for now unless you want to shell out $1500+ for the 6.5 version.

What did you use for the remote wire?

The RF PBR uses the audio signal coming from the head unit to trigger. But I did find that after I did the AMP flash from the dealer that the RF PBR could no longer detect this signal. I'm sure there is something in the fairing that could trigger the amp, like the Cigarette line.

Or don't do the Amp flash and PBR works fine without remote.

Update. Yesterday I ditched the whole upgrade for the SoundzCustomz Focal 2.350 Amp and Focal 165KRC. I also did the 2 amp flash. Its a much better sound, but with $700 speakers I guess I should expect that.
