Default 2013 Street Glide audio system help

I was hoping to get some input from the forum members on upgrading the stock Harley sound system. My plan is to get speaker lids to accommodate rear speakers, update the front speakers, get an amp and possibly change the factory radio. I really like the clean look of the aftermarket Harley speaker lids for the Boom audio system, but not sure thats my best option? I've done a little research and there are just so many options out there I have no idea where to start. So, if you guys had a $1,500 to $2,000 budget for a sound system, what would you get, including what kind of speaker lids? Any advice is appreciated.

  • Hogtunes 6x9 lids
  • Biketronics BT7P1 7.1" in fairing
  • Pioneer TS-D6902R 6x9 in lids
  • Radio is merely a matter of preference but I would find something with 4v or 5v RCA outputs
  • Biketronics 4180 amp
  • you'll need a Biketronics or Hawgwired handlebar control module (again matter of preference)
  • vtwin mounting kit for radio and don't forget the rainshield

Do you recommend keeping the factory Harley radio or definitely upgrade that along with the other things you mention?

you will definitely wind up with a better sounding system going with an aftermarket deck with 4v or 5v outputs, yes.

As for a recommendation, if you like the stock deck then try it out first and see what you think. TONS of people are happy with the stock deck and amp/speaker packages.

my favorite 2 are

Sony DSX-S310BTX
Kenwood KIV-BT901

there are a lot of head units out there man and really what I think is at the top of the list may not be what you think is. Head units all boil down to a matter of preference for features and functionality. The one thing I think you need to pay attention to is the RCA outputs. No less than 4v is my recommendation.

Rainshields usually you'll obtain from some place like Biketronics, Hawg-Wired, VTwin, etc.
