Harley Davidson Forums - Complete audio install w/ pics

This is my first time making a post like this so bare with me.

This was all in a 1999 FLHTCI.
I installed this system in my garage with the help of a buddy a few weeks ago.

I wish I had taken more pictures wile I was working on it, I might take the fairing back off and take some more pictures later.

I know this system is not great, but it's what I have, I posted this just in case anyone needed help.

D. RCA Male to Male Video Connector Adapter AV Cable Coupler Joiner for Car - http://www.ebay.com/itm/RCA-Male-to-...item19d52d6e52 - I used some of these so I didn't need RCA cables as there isn't much room and cutting RCA's are a pain in the rump.

E. Sirius SNYSC1 Interface for Sony -

You will still need a satellite receiver with this set up, I used this kit in conjunction with a Sirius Radio SCVDOC1 SiriusConnect Vehicle Dock Kit (http://www.ebay.com/itm/111147308746?ssPageName=STRK:MEWNX:IT&_trksid=p3984.m1439.l2649) and the Faceplate my Sirius Sporster 5 from my truck. Running the cable from the Sirius SNYSC1 Interface into my right saddlebag, as seen in the pictures below.

Remember, remote from HU goes to remote (REM) in on first amp, then run a wire from the remote (REM) out on the first amp to the remote (REM) in on the second amp.

Installed both the PN2.350D and the PN4.520D amps in the batwing fairing, they fit but it took a lot of imagination and beer. The BIKETRONICS TITAN II 7.1's magnet takes up a lot of room where the HT 2nd amp bracket goes.
Getting this 2nd amp in place is by far the hardest part of the entire install.

And with the amp in place. Test and make sure that your fairing will go back on before you bolt anything in place, I had to move the PN2.350D 3 times before I found a sweet spot where the fairing would go back on.

Both amps in place, and the Sirius SNYSC1 Interface for Sony installed.

I used the spare black and orange leads on the headlight wire harness to hard-wire the Sirius SNYSC1 Interface in for power.

The wire lengths in the amp install kits and the Sirius SNYSC1 Interface are way too long. The amp kits can just be cut for the length you need, even the twisted RCA's can. Just remember the RCA's have 2 wires inside, a ground and a positive.

I don't think the Sirius SNYSC1 Interface bus cable can be spliced so just stuff the extra wire under the head unit and zap strap everything before you try to fit your outter fairing back on.

HT Lids:

When drilling the hole to install the rubber grommet make sure you tape the out of your saddle bag and start drilling from the outside of the bag, otherwise the paint will flake off.

Spitting on the rubber grommet will help them go in easier :icon_eek:

This kit comes with a quick detach wire harness, and the instructions are great. The only wires you'll need to cut are the 4 prong amp connection on the end of the wiring harness if your not using a HT amp.
Snip the connector off and run the wires directly to respected amp speaker outs.

Note: for some reason all the HT kits I've seen, The black wire will be your positive and the colour wire will be your negative.

For example: Blue/black will be your left channel and Brown/black will be the right channel, hooking the blacks wires to the positive terminal.

The same goes with the Lower fairing kit.

Lower Fairing:

Really straight forward install, nothing tricky here.
Same as the HT lids, cut off the HT amp connector (unless using a HT amp) and connect the wires directly to the respected channels on the amp.
Same as above, blue/black for left and brown/black for right.

The black wire was positive again on this kit.

Soldered, crimped and heat shrink all cuts/connections just to be safe.

Ran all grounds to the negative battery terminal to avoid interference or issues. Just have a buddy hold the gas tank up as you run the wires under it.
Straighten out a wire coat hanger and tape your wire ends on it and fish it under the tank if you need to.

Set all gains using the distortion method UltraNutz posted in the sticky and it worked well. It sounds great.

I had no idea what I was doing when I started this project, I've never installed an audio system before but it all went together easy. It's just common sense really. Have lots of beer and good music on hand :)
