Turbo or supercharger

I have a 107 built by Tman performance and I’m thinking of either adding a turbo or supercharger this winter. Tman recommended a CMP turbo. Anyone here have either a turbo or a supercharged bike that they can comment on.

My sons 17 RG is at getting a Trask installed right now. If it were me, I'd go turbo vs supercharger. Almost every little car on the highway today makes big power out of a little motor with a turbo and the get 100k's of dependable miles from those cars.

I'd follow in those footsteps, the power is only there when you need it.

Stage 1 turbo on a 103..

That thing sounds fierce!!!

At the end of the day it comes down to what is available at a price you are prepared to spend! Sounds as if Tman have experience that is worth drawing on, so it's worth talking through things with them!

I prefer turbo. the power is only there when you need it. changing boost levels can be done with the turn of a dial on a boost controller. However, a supercharger doesn't have turbo lag.

Check out Aerocharger Turbos they have variable vane technology. You can adjust where you want the boost to come in, off idle or at higher rpms. Kits are complete and you can use your power vision to tune since it can read positive pressure.

Yea, my friend is on his 4th motor with an aerocharger. 1st motor lasted 1 hour. No thanks.

can not comment on the mc part but the supercharger and turbo each has +/-'s.
turbos are free power but costs more initially and planning is a must. there are sometimes lag issues but you will have heat issue but intake and exhaust that must be taken care of. then there is extra maintenance since engine oil is part of the mix.
superchargers are less complex hooking up and usually have no issues with lag. they produce heat issues for the intake. they are easier to trim for needs.
then you have to decide whether you are going to control boost by design or by gated waste control. a lot of cars are really not full time boosted, turbo is just spinning away but not wasting parasitic load of turning it.
then there are drive issues being the supercharger has to be electric or mechanical.
choice is personal. my brother-in-law runs twin paxton blowers with "S" trim on a 350 in a two door nova body and it tears up modern super cars. he runs an after-market holley injection system with on the fly computer control so he can go from mild to wild at an instant.

That isn't actually true! There is no mechanical link, but an engine has to be tuned to produce enough power in its exhaust to drive the turbine.

I think he mean there is no parasitic load. Wher as a supercharger is driven by the motor.
