Talking Custom Turbo Build 2007 FXST

Hi All,
I am going to be building a custom turbo setup on my 07 Softail. I have been playing with turbos on cars and trucks for a while now, and have decided I want to play with one on a 2-wheeler.

I looked at the Trask kit, and though it is a very very nice kit, I do not have $5K to spend on it. I am no stranger to fabrication. I was just at the 1/4 mile Saturday night with my 91 GMC Syclone, which has a turbo'd lq9 Gen 3 Small block Chevy. It ran a best of 10.74 @ 125.9 with a 1.54 60', that is 93 octane on street tires in a street driven 3800+lb truck. I did all of the engine assembly, fabrication and tuning myself.

I bought this bike new (long story short my boss won 20k at our local harley dealer, i paid him 11k and he bought the bike with his credit and they titled it directly to me). I have a need for speed though, and it wasnt cutting it in stock form. I was ready to sell it and get a v-rod. BUT 1) wife hates the way v-rods look and 2) i get a retarded sentimental attachment to my vehicles, especially since this was and probably will be the only one i buy new. Soooo, i think the turbo will be the answer.

Anyway, on with the show. I will try to keep this thread updated with pics of my progress.

Here is what I started with this evening.

Had a little time so I started getting it apart...

I have a t3/t4 turbo and some other goodies ordered up. Ill keep this post running for this project.

That fixed waste gate whats it set up for 6 or 8 lbs of boost. I have had problems with that type.(sticking) So I take them off and add a Tial waste gate. This why I can control the boost with different springs.

Again looks good so far keep up the good work.

That rear pipe dosen't look right....I'd suggest making a new one that has cleaner bends, just my .02

Interested to see how you will clock the outlet.
