Default US Bikes to Canada

Hello,

New member here, just mulling over a first Harley purchase and seeking advice on jumping through the “hoops” associated with bringing a US purchased bike back with me into MB, Canada.

I’m hoping any savings I may realize will make the required mods/paperwork hassle worth it in the end. Thoughts from those who may have tried the same? Thanks!

I have been down that road a number of times with importing cars and have looked at bringing a bike back. Without going into a lot of detail my experience is that the math never makes sense to bring back a lower priced used bike. There are just too many low mile bikes available in Canada that unless it is a rare or high cost custom you want, you are probably better off buy locally

When you add the cost of travelling to see the bike (or third party inspection) , shipping, import taxes, out of country and out of province inspection, currency fx etc. there wont be an savings

Only makes real sense when the dollar is close to par. There are some good deals to be had south side, but the exchage and taxes at the border can eat that up quick.

You should go to the ADV riders forum and in the Canada section there is a huge thread discussing importing U.S. bikes...b.

Check out the flippin hogs web site.
And as mentioned it is better to buy and import when the Cnd Dollar is stronger.
