Carb Conversion?

My Bike is an 01 Road Glide. It has the MM EFI and I am think of converting to carb.

Question I have is what Carb to get, SE 44mmcv, A rivera, S&S or what ever the Stock Carb that came on Carb models of that year? I bought the bike used and am pretty sure it just plain old stock. It has a true Dual exhaust ste up. I would like to maybe put in cams and a 2 into 1 exhaust.

What say you whats my best option?

cv 40 is the stock carb easy to find

Lots of folk go on about the MMI system, however I suspect most bikes with it are running just fine. Changing to a carb means a lot more than it seems along with extra cost. An alternative is to use a later tunable replacement for the original MMI, from the MoCo or S&S. Andrews has suitable cams and Supertrapp makes a great 2-into-1, as you can see below!

I went with a CV40 when converting from an M&M on my 2001 FLHRCI. I chose the CV carburetor because I was able to find one with the linkage required to easily connect my cruise control.

Zippers also makes a bolt on MM upgrade kit with new TB, computer and o2 sensors. Not the cheapest thing around (about 2 grand) but if you want it done "right" so to speak that may be a good way to go.

I looked intio that option the only problem is that they wont sell it to me because I live in the Peopls republik of Commiefornia....But I am not far from reno and I have some buddies there so I could have them order it for me. Which I may do!

I'm converting my 99 RoadGlide in the next week or so.
I'm going with the CV40, as I want my cruise control. I like CV's and even the little 40, properly jetted, will feed my 97".
If I didn't find a package locally with tank, harness, intake, carb and Ness filter backplate I would have gone S&S as there are brackets for cruise control for them.
I prefer the CV, when I had a Super E on my 107" Evo softail I had to rejet on my annual ride from AZ through Telluride.

I'm gonna toss in a little hijack here-what are people that have completed the conversion using to plug the hole in the back of the front head when the temp sensor is removed?

You don't need to plug it. H-D used to - look in an early carbureted twin cam parts book - often times they even listed size and pitch - then they stopped due to cost. It's just a blind hole.

thanks Ed, now that I'm done its not a big deal at all-I thought it would be an eyesore but its not even noticable...
