CV Carburetor Help
Hello Everyone,
So I just bought my first Harley a couple of months ago. 2005 Road King Custom.
The previous owner had put in a dynojet kit which really screwed it up and I have been trying to get it adjusted for awhile.
I decided to take out the dynojet kit and put in a better kit.
In the process of taking it off and rebuilding it, part of the carb body broke beyond repair.
Long story short I need a new carburetor. All I really need is the body of the carburetor since I can rebuild it with the new parts I already have. However I am finding that carbs are anywhere between 200-400 dollars.
Is there any place that sells just the carb body or specializes in selling take off parts?
The carburetor is fairly standard CV part number 27412-99D - also not sure what other cv carbs will fit this bike.
Any help would be appreciated.
Thank You

Start looking on this and other forums; shouldn't be hard to find a CV40 since a lot of guys are replacing them with Mikuni carbs even though the CV is just as good; flow and dyno results have proven that the slight increase in performance is marginal at best. Head work, cams, intake and exhaust modifications are much more cost effective performance boosters that replacing a CV with a Mikuni. The Mikuni being cable activated vs the CV which is vacuum activated provides a quicker throttle response which is often mistaken for more power. but I digress.
I recently sold a CV40 for $75 but most that go on Ebay are running $150-$175, not $200 to $400. Any CV from '99 up will work and you might consider picking up a used CV and using all CV parts; forget the DJ and other aftermarket kits; they will only cause problems. There are two modifications that are worthwhile. Remove the protective cap over the idle A/F screw and replace the screw with the piece with the large knurled ****; makes adjusting much easier. Replace the slide spring with the lighter spring.
I am curious how you broke the carb piece. I have R/Rd lots of CV carbs and have never come close to breaking one. You say you broke the "body"; the bowl or the slide section?
EDIT: Here is one for sale on this forum for $100. Just needs clean up and rebuild.
