Carb jet needle wear.
These pics are from my 1995 FXD.
The first pic is of the stock (as delivered) jet needle. (Only about 2000 miles on it.)
After 20+ years and lots of miles (>120,000), this 2nd pic is of the needle that comes with a "DynoJet" kit. Yes, after all those miles, it wore a small "pintle."
The bikes mannerisms went from "how it always ran" (quite good actually,) to a lope similar to a HUGE cam, to not running very good at all. All within 300-400 miles.
I'm suspecting ethanol had something to do with this erosion. As a precaution, I replaced the main jet too.
Anyway, here you go~

My Yost needle after 45k. Note the tip and c-clip notches. Never noticed it till I pulled the slide to bevel it. They replaced it free of charge, great service.
