Default Float Height for 1988 Sportster 883??

I need a hand setting my float height. This carb is on my 1988 Sportster 883, and it is pre-accelerator pump. It has the white float, not the black one seen in later models. Can someone explain the proper float height specs?

Thank you!!!

Thanks....but the FSM I have only pertains to the CV carb with the accelerator pump, which requires a totally different float height.

A quick google search says — with the carb upside down, adjust so bottom of float is .690-.730 from the bowl mounting surface.

Same as in the link above except you measure at the highest point on the round part of the float to the gasket surface on the carb body.

The purpose of positioning the carb on an angle is so that the adjustable tab on the float lever just touches the float needle's small post without compressing that little shock absorbing small post.

Consider finding a replacement CV carb with an accelerator pump, you will feel a difference. YD
