Proper jetting PhxTo Utah
had my softail installed with a thunder header, 211 cams and and 1550 conversion kit and stock carb rejet. Ran great in desert elevation. About 965 ft above sea level. Moved to Utah. It' seems to struggle to idle but runs strong even at 4750 ft above sea level. Any suggestions? I can turn a wrench. But a mechanic I'm not. Thanks in advance

Although the CV carb does compensate for altitude you may need to change your pilot jet? As you have gone up in altitude where the air is thinner you are probably running rich and can confirm by pulling the plugs and check for color. Then see what idle jet you have and replace accordingly.

The word 'indy' is a shortened name for an 'independent' Harley specialist. With older bikes, visiting a proper dealer can be expensive, there is also a risk they don't know carbs very well, if at all. Independents are often fully trained older qualified Harley mechanics who can run their own shop by working on our older bikes - they know their stuff, have many skills and are well worth seeking out. Mine is a Harley Master Tech and a great chap - he set up on his own when our local dealer closed. Hope that helps!
