What cam would you recommend without sacrificing reliability, mid range, sweet idle for an 80" Evo?

Comp cams EVL-3010. Quiet and dependable. Outperforms a Andrews 27 every time.

man haven't heard that term in a long while!
well, guess what, hd already installed them, there are stock, all of the desired features and zero $$$$ spent.
cams are like headers, they in themselves are nothing if they do not play nice with other components. in hot rodding, neither is a golden bullet, change one thing, have to change another and it goes on!

I like my 3010, but everybody's tastes are different.

For me, I liked the reputation of a quiet valve train. You just need to look at cam specs and see what range in RPM's you want the cam kick in...if that particular cam specs are to your liking, then go with that. It's another reason I went with the 3010 instead of the 27.

Stick with a bolt in cam and you won't have to do many other mods, assuming your already at a stage one. Maybe some jetting and or needle changes after the cam is installed, but the bike will tell you what it wants. Replace the cam bearing and lifters (if original) while you are at it.

What mods do you have currently and what bike? YD

Also was wondering if lowering a tad would give it more of a modern updated look? I got all original parts stashed. I did do this......

Default S&S backing plate question

Does this tab perform any function, is it some kind of structual gusset or something?

Or is in mainly to used to stretch out the air filter and prevent a good seal all the way around?

Because if it's nothing more than a pain in the *** I'd really like to grind it the phak off.
