I'm Down!!!

Hey all, I was wanting to build me a bike, but I've been reading people's horror stories about how hard it was to insure and register their bike. I don't wanna put all that time and money into something, then not even be able to ride. I'm wondering should I even attempt to build a bike? I'm just discouraged right now.....I live in Kentucky.

My advice would be to buy an older fixer upper and get it registered and insured then chop it up or cusomize it to your liking.

Depends were you are. None around here and a good one is 7-9k. But yes thats the direction I'd go. Late 70's seem to be good one's ore early 80's FXR's.

Mines insured through Progressive. I had it registered before I chopped it. After building it there is an update section on their website for my policy from which I clicked on "Modified Frame" to change my policy. Cost from old policy to new policy = $0.

Check with your local DMV. It shouldn't be that hard to do. I registered mine last year and all I had to have was the MSOs (frame, engine, transmission), a couple of pictures, proof of insurance and a copy of the vehicle safety inspection.
