Default Polish / wax "polished aluminum" heads?

If I polish 'polished aluminum" (clearcoat? aluminium) covers will the engine heat do something ugly to appearance due to polish residue?
2005 XL883C Sportster EVO.

I am using Turtle Wax All Metals Cleaner / Polish. Bottle says it leaves a layer of magic to prevent future oxidation.
I did polish a couple square inches but stopped & haven't started engine: polishing made a tiny bit more shine but left most or all of the stains (look maybe like water stains).
SO: If I polish them will the heat do something ugly?
(Not wax.)
Is there some other substance or technique to take the stains off?
If not then I'm takin' it off the jack (polishing chrome spokes) and ride it.
Thanks!
