Default Cleaning the wheels.

Does anyone have any tips or products that help to clean the rims. The back one is very hard to get to.

Hard to get at the rear. No kidding. The best and easiest time to clean is when you do a tire change. Wheel is off the bike and you can get at every angle and contour. If you have your tires flipped on by a dealer ask to have them leave it on the lift over night while you clean them up. Or buy yourself an underframe lift and do it all your self. Without pulling the wheel off. A Nomar tire changer is a handy item and pays for itself if you pay 800.00 or more for a dealer to put new tires on and a set of wheel bearings. I only let that happen once. Then geared up to do these things myself. Best of luck.

By the time you ask this it may be too late.
Brake dust is hard on bare aluminum and chrome.
I use stuff for wheels from the car parts store. Spray on, let soak and spray off with a garden hose. Avoid the bearings. Follow directions carefully. Some can be quite aggressive.

Sonax Full Effect will take care of the brake dust, along with the right wheel brush

I do mine when the wheel is off with metal polish , this one on the dremel with a wool polishing tip. I also use a larger die grinder variable speed with a wool polishing mop for the areas that are easier to get to.
I had the tires off for a tire change but I will pull the wheels each winter and give them a good polishing with the rubber on . This makes it very easy to keep up with thru the riding season. This set is 18 years old.

Dan, that wheel looks great! the key is to totally clean the wheel before the polishing. Removing the brake dust on a un-coated wheel requires a iron remover, no way around it.
The picture is of a truck I did this past weekend. Owner contacted me about the issue. He is a diesel mechanic and this issue happened at a ship yard. Iron deposits everywhere. Some places I had to do twice. Ive used Iron X since it was released and never ever had to use it twice, that's how bad it was. When Iron X hits iron it dissolves it and turns purple, what you see. Getting rid of these contaminants is so important. Picking that stuff up in a pad and polishing is going to cause incredible defects. Might not see it on wheels as much, but its still there. the clear spot you see on the bottom of the back door is the initial test spot to see exactly what it was. Owner thought it might be over spry
