Cleaning grime under seat & elsewhere?
 

Whats the best way to clean all the grime under the seat and side panels, especially with all the electrical connections.

I would probably use just a damp microfiber cloth, followed by an old paint brush, followed by another dry microfiber cloth. Then I would wax any painted portions like the tank and rear fender. That's nasty! Lol.

Like hell, no way of getting around it, it's filthy, approach aggressively.

Pressure rinse off, low pressure, foam cannon with good quality soap, let soak, small EZ-detail type brush for tight areas, with real sheep skin mitt wash everything.
Low pressure rinse off, Metrovac type blow dry thoroughly...

I suggest letting it sit to dry a few days to help to fully dry it even more...

I would not use a pressure washer but I would use low pressure water. I would remove the battery first if it is in that location.

Use an all purpose cleaner from a spray bottle to wet the surfaces and a soft brush to agitate as much as is required then rinse off. Repeat as required. Blow dry.

Many car detailing products that are called APC or you could use a citrus pre wash product that is low in suds.

Open each connector and make sure they are dry.

Disconnecting the battery is not needed.

chems are not needed

an air compressor is not needed

a power washer is not needed

but this is just my way

a stack of thin light junk microfiber rags and a bag of detailing qtips

damp almost completely rung out rags until they start coming back clean and you can’t do any more with them…. Then switch to qtips make them damp with water…go at it like that until they start coming back clean

Just wash it, plain ole soap and water. As others have said, foam cannon a soft brissle brush and low pressure, all great suggestions. Everything "factory" in there is water resistant, don't know about the siren looking thing on top of your electical box tho, that's something aftermarket.

Dragging damp towels around the frame could possibly inflict swirls, IMO. External frame members with road grime or tar will need some kind of cleaning agent to remove, again in my opinion.

Not many GAF about the frame under the seat… I do

i clean powder coated parts like the frame with Reset… hand polish with WGs finishing glaze, prep and at least seal it if not coat and seal it…. I thought we were talking about the stuff like the ECM…all the wires….the abs module etc… I don’t squirt liquids into molex connectors and if I have to disconnect I inspect the pins and pack em with grease before I reconnect them

I am looking at the second picture which is the side of the bike. I try to give information on how I would do stuff such that I would be happy with the results not just get the job done.

I don't squirt liquids into connectors either but using a small amount on the outsides of them is going to hurt them.
