2002 Low Rider

I am looking at a 2002 Dyna Low Rider at a local Harley dealer. The bike has around 15,000 miles on it. I like the look and feel of the bike and am considering purchasing this bike. My main concern is buying a bike this old may lead to me putting more money into the bike over the next few years and eventually end up spending what it would cost to buy a newer bike at this time. Ive been looking around on the internet for advice and now I am turning to you guys for some personal opinions. Thanks for any advice!

Go for it. Neither the age or the miles would turn me away from the bike if you like it. A year ago I bought a 2004 Low Rider with 15,500 miles on it and have had zero problems with it. And the 2002 year engine is actually more desirable. You'll get opinions from some on here saying you should buy newer because of the larger engine or 6 speed but unless you're planning a lot of highway riding they don't really matter. People were riding 80 cubic inch Dyna's for years. Plus you'll have a lot more money to spend on customizing it than if you bought new. Ask me how I know.

The 2002 bikes have what is considered to be have the strongest built 88" engines. That being said the weak link is/are the cam chain tension shoes. Have them looked at around 20K miles. I have a 2002 Super Glide with a 95" kit and cams. That woke the engine up quite nicely. I rode solo from here to upstate NY with no problems in the creature comfort area. Enjoy the "new" bike if you decide to get it.

You're probably going to save money buying the 02. Why? Because either model year you buy, be it new or used, you are going to mod it they way you want. and that involves more money. So, if you like the 02 get it. The dollars you save off of the cost of the bike can be put toward making it yours.

No reason not to buy that bike. Barely broke in and ready to be made yours.

At Zepka's ? Nice bike, I was sitting on it the other day. Bet you can get it under 7 if they know you're serious

they are fine bikes, they will cruise 80 mph all day, no reason for concern. grab a Harley warranty if you want, they are relativity cheap, a 3 year is only like $1200..
