Calling all exhaust experts
So bought my first 2010 fatbob yesterday and I've got a question about the exhausts
It has stock pipes and stock air filter, as I see it from research if I only put on slip ons I shouldn't need a high air flow filter (correct me if I'm wrong)
I have a set of Vance and hines slip ons left over from my sportster in the garage but the outer diameter is 2.5", all fatbob Vance and hines slip ons are 3" diameter
Will the smaller diameter hurt the bike? I thinking smaller diameter creates higher back pressure which in turn could hurt the engine
Any info would be great as I did a search and came up blank

Tons of development, science and testing go in to exhaust systems. Reducing the diameter will defiantly change the exhaust characteristics. Smaller diameter will mean more back pressure. Will it 'hurt' the engine? With EFI I don't believe so. Personally, since you just got the bike (GREAT boxing day present!) why not put some miles on it before you start changing things?
Enjoy and post a few pics of it...
Ride safe... cheers mate!

It's the fact there is a whole science behind it all that scares me, wasn't sure if the on board brain would compensate for it as I have read they do after about 50 miles with slip ons,
Put some miles on it before I mod it!!!!!! I can't do that, I love modding!!!!
The mounting bracket is nothing, I could mod something up
I took this

And turned it into this
