Anyone have some advice on replacing the stock headlight on a 2006 Dyna Wide glide? I need something MUCH brighter. I do all my riding early morning (4:00am) and early evening (6:30pm). Any advice or input would be greatly appreciated!

Yeah, that's a great choice. A friend of mine has the day maker and it is incredible. Unfortunately, I just can't spend that kind of money right now. Looking for something a little cheaper. I appreciate the advice!

if $$ is an issue, start by replacing the bulb. Look at the Osram Rallye bulb recommended by "Daniel Stern Lighting",a good low price replacement bulb that will not cause any melting and should last for some time.
I replaced headlamp w/ Cibie & Osram 70/65 Rallye bulb- made a big difference!

A step above that is a 100/80 bulb. About ten bucks from a NAPA auto parts store. That's what I'm currently using on my bikes.

There's also a $70 LED bulb from FuelMoto. That's really new, and we don't have a lot of feedback on it, but reviews have been positive so far.

River Primo makes a 5 3/4" LED light. Eastern Performance lists it for $212.36. When I purchased mine about a month ago they were giving a discount to HD Forum members and waiving shipping. Between my hand surgery and ice on the roads, I have not tried mine out at night yet but I am looking forward to much improved lighting. If you are going to spend $70...Just go for the Day maker. Best item I bought for my bike.

Alternative: pick up a fatboy bucket (7") off ebay and get a truck-lite LED bulb for $170 from Amazon. It's the same as the very well reviewed Kuryakyn Phase 7 bulb for about $100 less. I'm waiting for the bucket to arrive and I'll post photos.

i put a 55 watt BiXeon bulb in mine and it like day light out there. But i had to mount the ballast on the frame neck not enough room in the 5-3/4 bucket. And dont let folks tell you that the reflector wont work i have a excellent beam cut off still. And been passing state inspection 3 years now. I just bought a cheap car kit on flea bay cost like $50.00 or some where near that

Really the daymaker is an EXCELLENT upgrade, and one of my favorite mods to the bike. The low beam has a nice cut off, I did have to bring my head light up just a little, and the high beam is great with a heck of a spot light thrown down the road.

But If you want a nice and bright replacement bulb, the Cyclops LED bulb (H4, $60) is a good upgrade over stock, with good light but not as good as the day maker. ( it just cant be, the day maker actually has more bulbs and more efficient reflector devices than the stock halogen housing) But I installed some in my cousin's cbr 500 and they were a very welcomed increase in light output, and nice color in the looks department.

But, if you do lots of night, dusk, or dawn riding I would spend the money on a daymaker. Its your safety and other drivers really do notice the brighter and better colored light thrown. As well you'll be able to see much better. I do lots of night riding in the summer as I work evenings at my 2nd job, its well worth it.
