Default New bolts for the rotors/pulley or use the old ones??

Going to be putting the wheels back on my bike here soon after I get them laced and trued. Should I get new bolts for the rotors and pulley or is it okay to re-use the old ones with some locktite? Thanks guys.

Replace the pulley /rotor bolts, every time.
Just a good practice. Too much depends on them.

Get some new bolts and while you're there, pick up a service manual for your bike.

I used stainless button hex socket head fasteners on my last bike. I also chased the threads inside and out with Snap On thread chasers, NOT tap/die, to remove old locktite residue. I would get new bolts, but make sure threads are clean

Cleaning the bolt holes make for more correct torque results. I would also apply locktite to the new bolts.

Speaking for the pulley bolts only, if you buy HD ones they will have threadlocker already on them, if you buy aftermarket ones then two to three drops of red Loctite 262.

x2 on using thread chasers!

Take the advice given above, new bolts, clean the threads, loctite, and properly torqued. Go back and check torque after you put some miles on after install.

Hope this helps, enjoy the ride!

+1. Service manual always calls for new bolts on both the pulley and rotor install.

When I had my wheels built in Feb 2011, the new rear hub was slightly wider than the stock hub. So it required slightly shorter pulley bolts. I ordered new shorter bolts from Fastenal but I couldn't wait to ride the bike so I found some used bolts that came out of a bagger (at a trike conversion shop) that were the size I needed. I put some blue loctite on them, torqued them down and marked the outside of each to watch for any movement.

It is now 2015 and I have been through 2 rear tires since then and not once have they ever backed out or given me any reason to worry.

Moral of the story, do what you feel comfortable with. I still have the new pulley bolts sitting in the toolbox.
