Default Please Help! Don't know what this part is called & I want it in black.

Hi Gang,

In need some help here please. In the (hopefully attached photo) is a FatBob headlight. I don't know what the "mounting bracket" or T thingy is called and would really like to get it in black.

Anyone know where I can find just that part and in black?

I have checked with the local powdercoater and was basically told it was cost prohibitive and if I can find it already in black that would be the best option.

Thanks in advance,
( . Y . ) Mitties

Good spray paint is cheap and easy to come by...

a little prep work and proper drying and its nearly as durable as powdercoat. that seems like the easiest and cheapest route.

If money is no object, source it out and have it powder coated. If money is an object get a powder coating kit from Eastwood and do it yourself in the kitchen. If you're really cheap, spray the **** out of it.

Thanks for the input folks, much appreciated. I would prefer not to spray paint the crap out of it if I can help it yet at the same time, nearing the end of winter mods I am getting a little cost conscious.

Granted, the mounting block will be hidden 80% of the time behind my fairing so won't be visible to Joe Public but I will know ;-)

I'm going to keep searching flea-bay and other sites to see what I can find already black.

Gotta match up to the new badness

How much does "cost prohibitive" translate into actual dollars?

Looks like you got some nice paint, looking forward to seeing it all completed.

i bet you could contact Joe the Powder pro and he could toss it in the oven with another batch. Thats probably why your local powder-coater said it would be so much, probably has a huge oven.

Don't powder coat in your kitchen as someone has mentioned, that would destroy your oven and not make it suitable for cooking in.

I bought a harbor freight gun, black powder and a toaster oven a couple of years ago. I have done all my own powder coating on whatever would fit in the oven and they all look just a good as the pieces i have paid for....it's all in the prep

the appliance epoxy from Lowe's or Home Depot is also an option. Dries smooth, glossy and very hard

There is a guy on the site here Joe from Powder Pro. He will do it give him a shout and get a price. You can also get a powder kit from Harbor Freight and do it yourself. You can cure it with a heat lamp, being that it is so small.

How much does the guy want to PC that piece? Should be $20-$40 at most. My local guy does gloss black every Friday, he would do that piece for $20 all day.
