little disappointed in big shots...
Got the bike out the other day and when I'm shiftin through gears and rolling on the throttle around corners these pipes sound great but at an idol I can't even hear them. I really wana do something about this. Can I take the baffles out without hurting my motor or would it be better to get some different baffles from big city thunder or any other company? Thanks!

Vance & Hines Short Shots and Big Shots usually come with a high flow baffle but they do offer a quiet baffle option. Mabey thats what you have. You can tell which one you have because you will be able to look straight through the high flow baffle but won't be able to see through the quiet baffle. You can also run without a baffle. It will not hurt the motor but it does reduce the backpressure and you will likely degrade the performance without a tuner. I have the short shots and a V & H Fuel Pak tuner. I have also tried no baffle, the high flow baffle and the quiet baffle along with the proper tuner map for each. I like the sound of the high flow baffle the best.

So my short shots with the high flow baffle are probably louder than yours because of the short length of the pipe and how close to my ear they are. When you're riding you probably won't hear the exhaust at idle but the folks behind you will. If you have a smartphone, download a decibel meter app and see what the noise difference between the pipe exit and your riding ear position is.

Don't worry, other people can.
Have you done a full Stage 1 or just the pipes?
While straight drag pipes aren't an issue with performance with the proper tune,
here in Minn it's illegal and you can be issued a citation. It's seldom used by LEO but too loud is a reason to get pulled over and they can write you.
