Default Tank Lift or Not?

To those who have done this mod, did you like it? Is it true your bike runs cooler? Do you regret it at all?

I kind of like the pics, but afraid It might look awkward in person with the lifting brackets & the wires hanging out more.

I have a 2003 Wide glide, handle bars & everything are stock.

3" lift on mine. I love it. I don't know about cooler running though. I just did it for the look. It does seem like it blocks air flow off of me though. Maybe it's in my head.

Same here. Don't know about cooling but did it for looks. I built my own for less than 10 bucks. You can always try it and if you don't like it put it back.

Did the 2" lift from DK customs. Also feel less wind on me. Love the looks. Really shows the engine better. Easier to clean rocker covers too.

It's basically for looks, you most probably will never want to take it off after you have done it.

does it cool the engine, barely noticable.

It does make it easier to clean the top of the head covers and shows them off more.

If you apply yourself a bit you won't have any wires hanging down or loose in any way.

Easy enough mod that if you don't like it you can take it off. I have the 2" DKcustoms lift on my 2013 SuperGlide and I like the look. If it did make it run cooler I never noticed. Never even thought about it looking awkward and wires aren't really an issue.

Devin and Kevin(DK) have Tank Lifts on all of their Bikes! When the tank is raised, it now allows the air to hit the engine which lets it cool. As for the wires you could always do a wire tuck, it allows you to hide all the wires.

Below is a link to a thread that will be helpful to you also,
DK Tank Lifts, What You Didn't Know, Need To Know, Want To Know

Below is a picture of a Before and After picture, they are of a touring bike but will be the same concept with your wide glide.

Did a 2 inch on my 05 wideglide for looks and ease of cleaning. Was going to go 3 inch but was told bars would hit tank so stuck with 2

Default Tank Lifts

Tanks lifts are cool looking and easy to make yourself. Just like BigDogIdaho
said, they are easy to do. So try and make one yourself before you spend the big bucks. I might have $5 in mine.
