Let me run this by ya....
was offered up a 92 fxrs, with 16k on the clock for 5995.00....trouble is should I wait for a better deal? I mean a younger bike for the same price. It's bound to come along and I can wait to pull the trigger for awhile yet. I absolutely want a dyna and a low rider is exactly what I'm leaning to. But with the newer fuel injection and fresher motors out there for just a few grand more....I think I should pass.

You didn't say how much for the 92. So it is difficult to say.
Resale is around $5,000 no matter how many miles it has. 16,000 miles on a 92 is only close to 700 miles a year. So it has been sitting a lot through the years. It would need to be check thoroughly front to back first.
I would wait myself unless it's a deal of a life time.

That would be a deal in the Bay Area, Cali where I live..most are going between 9-11k, when you can find em. But if your mind is set on a newer injected bike, just wait, spend a little more coin and get what you would be happy with.

The only reason I'd go for an FXR is for the frame design. The swing arm isn't attached to the motor and the motor IS NOT rubber mounted. This makes... as I've heard people say, "The best handling Dyna ever".
A 92 FXR might make a worthy project. Up grade the front end to 49mm forks... bigger jugs and cams. The naturally aspirated carburetor is a plus for an engine build.
If this would be the route taken I'd look for a private sale for something closer to 4k.

Yeah, pass on that junk...
What's the dealers #?
My 92 FXR is the best bike I've ever ridden. It's not a worthy "project" bike. You can improve just about anything, but It is still a fantastic motorcycle. If you are not afflicted as I am, you will likely be happier on something newer and EFI. The new Dynas are great bikes and handle well...They just don't FEEL like an FXR.
If you happen to like an unmolested carb Evo (fewer every year) in a great frame that will put a smile on your face like no other bike while you ride down the road, you should stop looking a gift horse in the mouth. That price is very fair if it's as clean as it looks. !6K miles is barely broken in. If it doesn't grab you move on and leave it for the next poor lost soul like me who dreads that the day will come when they are gone for good...
But I'd suggest you buy it and just enjoy it.
