Thinking about going with gear driven cams
The time vas come to replace the cam tensioners on my 01 T-Sport...I've been looking into the S&S 510G gear driven cam kit along with the S&S adjustable push rods...has anyone used this kit in the past? Is there any additional stuff I have to buy?

I don't really understand why anyone would spend the bucks to do gears, with the run out issue it doesn;t seem worth the trouble or cost. the SE kit is like $489, it's a hydraulic tensioner same as the current bikes & an increased capacity oil pump.
are there any noticeable benefits ot this better oil pump? If not I don't see the point in spending that $489 plus install labor either..
they say once the cam chain gets polished on the first set of shoes it will be so smooth the 2nd set of tensioner shoes will last a very long time. Replacing the shoes would probably only cost $100.. so $100 vs $900 or so?? I think i'll go with the $100 option.

I hope you like gear noise if you go with gear driven cams, just sayin'. If I had to vote I would go with lunaticfringe on this one. The stock tensioners are good for 50K miles, for 100$. If the second set takes you to 50K + miles I'd say you made a great choice.
+ there is a 2$ fix to boost the stock oil pump pressure up to 60 psi- that's right 2 bucks!
( ByTheWay When my tensioners were shot I went the stock shoe option and that was two years ago)
