Revtech DFO's

OK Peeps!

Lets hear it, good and bad, about peoples expierience and opinions about the Revtech DFO they've installed on their hogs. I'm considering putting one in with my stock pipes (sans baffles) and saving a whole lot of $ on pipe upgrades.

They work well and there's not a lot of set up involved.

A DFO is an inexpesive alternative to a power commander module. A power commander adjusts the timeing of the bike, I believe, while the DFO adjusts the signals coming from the EFI to the injector jets...at least this is my understanding of it from the various websites I've read. Removing the baffles would be the inexpensive equivilent to installing less restricitive, more expensive pipes, and the DFO is an inexpensive alternative to a power commander.

Hey skottyd, while a power commander is more expensive, it gives you more tuning options as opposed to the DFO. If you plan on keeping your bike for a while, I would wait.

While this is true, it also takes more time to map properly if you do not have it professionally done using a dyno.Then there's also the skill level of the dyno operator to consider. The canned maps get you close, but then you need an exhaust gas analizer to set up the proper mixture if you do it yourself unless you rely on the butt dyno. There is also a greater potential for doing damage to your engine due to improper advance curves and you must be proficient with computers also to set it up.

Just a few other thoughts.

IMHO............

1. Get a Power Commander III USB.

2. Get it dyno tuned at a shop that has a CERTIFIED tuner.

From what I'm understanding, the DFO is just a different means to an end; a power commander tweaks the timing maps for greater HP, while the DFO tweaks the signal from the 'brain' to the jets. It's a lot simpler to tune, and it really has as many tuning options as you want, as its analog and can be adjusted on the fly with a screw driver. Another advantage to this gadjet is that by simply removing it and reattatching the wires, the bike is back to the original configuration, there by keeping any warranty that is dependent on that fact of life intact...

That is a good point. I think once they have a model for the 06 dynas, I will do slip ons(05 SEII maybe?? V&H??), new A/C set up (undecided on which one) and the DFO. Keep the stock equipment jsut incase and be happy.:)
