Just used my eyes rather than the internet and realised there was a bunch of adjustment built into the clamps. Almost fits nicely now.

HD 1/4 fairing with Laminar Lip. Lip made huge difference in removing buffeting. 3" risers with custom gauge platform, too.

I want to buy a fairing but I'm not interested in spending money on something that hasn't been carefully vetted.

I mean there are several variables, for example bike model, rider height (seat to nose or whatever).

I'm not a rocket scientist but there is science behind the art of redirecting air.

Not that any shop would have the resources to have their own wind tunnel, but there's got to be a way to test without wasting money buying many different types/brands/models until you find one that works.

What's the best way to get to the ideal setup, is there a shop in SoCal that can make it happen without all the guesswork?

I am using a Rife fairing with a 15inch windshield on my Low Rider S. It is a great fairing no issues and good protection up to 120mph. I'm 5'8".

@dgaleana nice fairing! I plan to add a latimer lip to my HD Quarter Fairing.

I finally broke down and bought it all from Simi Valley HD, since, like I said, I patronize my dealer for motorcycle and car:
1. Harley Davidson Quarter Fairing ($399):

2. One Harley Davidson Locking Quick Release Windshield Clamp 49mm ($41):

3 Three Harley Davidson Quick Release Windshield Clamp 49mm (forget price; can't find link).

4. 49mm Quarter Fairing Bracket kit ($95):

5. I ordered a clear Laminar Lip to play with, although based on riding buddies' bikes with the HD Quarter Fairing, buffeting isn't a problem since it only takes the wind off my chest...my original goal:
http://www.laminarlip.com/sprtcmf.php
Took about an hour to put it all together. Bung King has horrible/non-existant instructions, but to be honest, someone with limited mechanical skills like me can figure it out, most folks on this forum can too. The best video I found on this:

The GOOD NEWS is most of the hardware the HD Quarter Fairing comes with is for the 39mm fork model bikes, so you'll end up tossing it out AFTER you're done. Basically no cables to re-route (I have mini ape 14" bars, not sure if same goes for lower bars).

Haven't mounted it yet, got kind of late and figured I'd mount it tomorrow.

Will post more pics tomorrow once installed...hopefully I can get my HD toolkit bag mounted behind the shield. #fingersCrossed

Default Rifle Roadster / Hoppe HP8

Currently I have a Rifle Roadster on my 2006 Street Bob. It's been on for five years, and I run with either the short bubble or the 12" touring wind screen, depending on time of year. Great fairing, can't say enough good things about it. Having said that, I'm just now starting to change the whole bike up to reflect that I'm getting old and tend to go on long rides now....

I'm in the process of installing a Hoppe HP8 fairings on my bike - just took delivery last night. Posted pics here:
