Not that anyone really cares but...
I've had this terrible void in my life since selling my gorgeous 12 SB. Her transformation is documented here in the forums if anyone cares to look. So I bit the bullet and scooped up a 2004 low rider. I'm attempting to attach some pics but I'm a little computer illiterate. Anyway... Last time I went bobber, this time I think I'd like to set her up for comfort. She currently has an ugly set of bags and a detachable windshield. Bleh. Here's what I'm thinking. 1/4 fairing. Some T-bars maybe 6in risers Stage 1 13" progressives Plasti dip & Powder coating various things Paint. My questions are regarding the carbureted motor and the stage 1. I will require some jetting of the carb instead of a fuel management system and dyno tune right? My buddy just got rid of his 13 low rider and has an open element ac and a set of vh 2-1 pipes. I was hoping they fit but haven't done any research on it yet. Also will the difference in power to a 2012 96" stage one be very disappointing when I'm riding a carbureted 88"? |

Ive always found carbureted motors to have MUCH quicker throttle response.
I doubt you'll be disappointed once you fig out the combo. |

Cool project. My first mod would be a 98" kit from fuel Moto, then suspension. I love the mags with your bike, send them to the powder coater. Then maybe pull the tins and see if you can paint it a faster colour?

The first thing I did was install an HD day maker, and Hd LED tail light. Then swapped the stock turn signal lenses for the smoked caps. My buddy had these lying around brand new in the box from a project he never started. He also has a set of v&h big shots and an air cleaner from a 2014 low rider. Does anyone know if these can be made to fit? The1/4 fairing looks great but I need to order the 39mm mounting brackets bc the 2014 has the new wider front ends. Next I bid farewell to the windshield... Goodbye. And tossed the sissy bar aside because there ain't no sissies around here! Then I stripped off the bags, pulled some chrome guards off and swapped out the stock suspension for a set of progressive 430's. By this point I was content so I took her for a ride. I quickly realized that I was not used to normal height bars after 16" apes on my last bike. I raced back home swapped and rotated the risers and raised the angle of the bars giving it a fake t-bar look but making it a THOUSAND times more comfortable. This bike runs and rides beautifully now. Although I still miss my 2012 SB I think this low rider will bring me plenty of enthusiastic miles. I'd like to hear some thoughts |
Ditching the sissy bar sure did wonders for it, it's looking great but the risers, not so much. No doubt temporary until you get the bars you want but almost looks like it was in an accident.
