According to Howard Messner from motorcyclemetal.com, he said the orientation of the reservoir doesn't matter, he just wrote that in response to another thread, and was referring to Ohlins shocks, but I expect the same is true for other brands.

It shouldn't matter. Ducati, Kawasaki, and Yamaha are making bikes with the shocks upside down. I'm pretty sure others have done it as well. Shocks are a closed pressurized system. Orientation shouldn't matter.

Upside down is a misnomer. Only because of the old hydraulic shock is the orientation the way we’ve been accustomed to seeing.
Fact is, newer, performance shocks, are pressurized therefore by mounting them with the shock body on top unsprung weight is less allowing for faster suspension reaction and movement due to less weight to lift.

Ohlins. Lifetime warranty and you can send them in for servicing. Id go legends for an air suspension. Ohlins is a household staple item. If they work for my yamaha r1...they have proven to also be great on my dyna. I run the blackline.

I looked at everything for the same reason. I ended up with a set of Revo A's. I've heard great things about every product that peaked my interest, Ohlins included. The deciding factor for me was price point. I was looking to be at roughly $1600 all in on both front and rear and will be able to make that happen with Legends. I can not attest to their performance yet as they are sitting on the table with the rest of my parts. My last bike was equipped with Ohlins, and although a completely different ride, it handled better than anything else I've ever ridden. My 2 cents for what it's worth.

How has it been since the shock change? I am about to pull the trigger and am seriously leaning towards Howard and the Ohlins but If I can do front and rear for $500 more with minimal loss, I would go with Legends...

Just wondering your opinion.

I went with the 13.25" Ohlin Blackline piggybacks from MM and could not be happier. Really upgraded my ride quality. Even more so when I updated the front forks to 25 mm cartridges. Difference between stock is night and day.
