30t pulley. Anyone done it and regretted it?

Injectors are about $200 for the Screaming Eagle 4.9's (pair of injectors in a kit) and can cost twice that from some of the online specialty vendors. just do a google for harley 4.9 injectors.

I have new belt and 70T pulley to install - planning on doing it soon. After reading this thread - looks like it will be a good upgrade. Almost think now that I should put 30T upfront since I'm going to have primary opened anyways...
I also have 00-05 rear pulley 70T for sale - HMU if you need it.
Bungking sells different adapters for rear pulley for around $50 - I guess they can be used to fit pulleys from different years..

heck if you have the primary off- DEFINITELY do the 30t front pulley. period, end of story. zero downsize and major upside. the 30t pulley is only like $60 - see my thread link in my last post for the part number - go to post #3.
you won't need adapters unless you are trying to put a 2000-earlier pulley on a 2001-later bike or vice versa. if any offset spacers are needed they are like $10 on ebay.
What pulley are you putting onto the FXDB? It would be really nice if you could add your upgrade, and the part number / brand you used for pulley, pics, etc in my thread- that thread is there for everyone who is upgrading, has upgraded or would like to upgrade- so anyone doing this will have valuable info to add.

00-05 should fit- It is 70t and 1-1/8" wide. measure the hub hole opening of the pulley. it should be 2.23"-2.25" in size. if it is under 2" then it is for a 2000 bike and will only fit 2000-earlier.
the 30t front swap is worth any and all hassle. even if you gotta pay someone to come do it. now that I have it there is no way I would not do it. that pulley is a bitch to take off though!

Almost done with the woodworking projects in the garage, so I'll be tearing into this soon. I want to at least get the clutch basket off to inspect the splines, then I can know for sure which direction I'm going and start ordering parts.
Referenced HD Pilot's excellent thread for part numbers and detailed photographs--thought I'd link to it here for anybody considering this mod and not aware of his thread.

That's a good read, I'm going to post that link over in the softail forum DIY drive ratio / pulley upgrade sticky. it's all same data for either softail or dyna- only problem is there's no way to make a thread that bridges both forum areas. I've been rocking the 30/70 pulley combo and it worked out great. actually fit with the stock 133 belt.
good luck with the upgrade!
