Nice write up! I did this EXACT SAME THING about 2 years earlier. Wow- great minds think alike!

I recommend covering the wood in something like felt so the t-shirts you get on the charity rides or visits to HD dealerships around the country don't get snagged.

Nice job. I sold my LeatherPro bags when I bought my Road Glide and of course now I miss having bags on my Dyna sometimes. I may go this route. Suggestion to clean things up a bit. Pick up some King Starboard - its a polymer board that machines like wood, and is pretty much as strong as the equivalent thickness plywood. It looks better and will be gentler on anything you put in the bags (no splinters) AND it comes in low drag black. boatoutfitters.com will custom cut it or you can buy a sheet.
Question though. Hard to see in the photos, but how close do the forward bottom corner of the bags come to the shock? I like the bags, but I'd want something I could put a laptop in, and yours are about 3" too narrow front to back so I'd need a slightly longer bag. Keeping it centered on the easy bracket might bring it too close?
Thanks

Hey, any time good Harley folk can benefit from their brethren on the Polaris-end of the industry, then yay for everyone!
