Default .3 miles, already issues. Check engine

As stated in another thread,
I purchased my first HD this week.
(Previous sport bike rider)

So the dealer delivered a last year leftover fatbob to my house yesterday at 2:30 PM. Home by 5, mandatory stare at it for an hour, then decided to break it.

I sat on bike, and realized that the controls on bars faced downward slightly to me. I actually had to rotate my hand downward to touch buttons.

So I decided to loosed the grips ( 2 screws facing me, and one screw in front) and rotate the controls about a half an inch upward.
Tightened screws up, and good to go.

Buddy stopped over about an hour or so later, and wanted to grunt at it, and drink my beer.
So he hops on it, and asks if he can start it. Turn key, and it DOES start with check engine light on, and no left ( sitting on bike) signal lights. NOT lit at all. Both front and rear.

I check all wiring going to controls, but I'm not an idiot, all I did was a slight rotation of grips, and try again.

Turn on power, and power DOES come on, to left signals, but won't flash. Engine light still on, and get "click" for starter, and won't start.
Check everything one more time, and still same thing.

Left signals have power, but no flash.
Check engine light on,
And will not start.

Any ideas??
Dealer delivered, and I have 2 inches of snow and salt on the ground. I currently have no way to get a 700 lb bike in my truck by myself.

Any input appreciated,
I'm sick over this, and don't even ask about the looks I'm getting from wifey.

Thanks in advance
I've been reading and watching videos all night, I really have no clue.

Regards
Rollcage

Call the dealer and have them come get! It should have never left the dealership like that.
Give them hell!

Did you check fuses? You might of pinched a wire inside the bars. I know you said you didn't but it's very easy to. I don't know about your particular dealer but every dealership I've ever worked at (cars&bike) they have a delivery checklist and they make sure all lights work.

Check fuses then call dealer and tell them to make it right.

Dealer opens at 9 ET,
I just hope they don't blame me for rotating the grips.
I'm not sure if I should say something or not,
But I don't see how that could be it.
It just scares the hell out of me because obviously the lights and just loud click are both controlled by on the grips.

I gotta say though,
I'm not happy that a brand new machine is already giving me fits.

Call the dealer. Could be it's just the battery and low voltage makes them do strange things and can destroy electronics.. I noticed a couple Harley on the showroom floor down here with the levers turned down. They were obviously all set up with price stickers on them shinny and pretty. Not sure what the assb guy thinks unless thats something they really don't mess with till they get feedback. They charge you set up, you would think getting the shift lever and hand brakes positioned would be free. Foot break is no longer adjustable. My levers are 2-3 degrees down from horizontal ..Like them out there...I do hold a pistol vertical however???HA

Call the dealer. This shouldn't be an issue. I wouldn't mention you rotating your grips unless they bring it up

Yep check the fuses and call the dealer. Slightly rotating the grips should cause no issues, however with internal wiring it can't be ruled out. There could have been to little slack in the wiring or a loose connection and the slight rotation of the grips caused the issue. Either way it should not have happened. The Batt is also a possibility. You mentioned snow on the ground so I assume temps are cold, if the battery had a low charge or was having issues the cold could have zapped the juice. In that case it could have worked fine in the heated dealership and the cold during transportation killed the battery.
I just replaced a 3 year old batt in my F150 that was still under warranty. Never had it drag or give me issues starting but on two mornings when the temps dipped down into the 20s the battery would not turn the truck over.
Unless its brought up by the dealership I would not mention the grip adjustment. I would stand my ground an insist the dealer send a service guy to my house

On another note, congrats on the new bike

Dealer wants me to pull battery and bring it to them.
I guess that's fine, But you better believe I'm going to ask for a few % off my pipe that I planned on ordering from them this weekend.

That sounds reasonable (batt). Yep I would push for a discount, definitely can't hurt LOL. Keep us updated on how it works out. The bright side is you have snow on the ground and can't ride yet.

On another note this thread would be better if you posted Pics of the new ride LOL
