Yeah. The VHT is way easier to get good results with than the Harley stuff. It's pretty tough once cured, too.
I had my covers powdered in wrinkle, but I wasn't about to completely disassemble a brand new starter...
I didn't want to spend the extra money but that damaged insulator REALLY concerned me. Better safe than sorry...even if it WAS my own poor safety call that caused the problem in the first place. I've been doing electrical for decades and never had a problem til now. Lesson learned.

Depends on how tight you make the wrinkles. I overdid it a little. My wrinkles are a bit too tight. I don't have super good control over that. Not enough experience spraying and heating it.
These are both brand new. They get closer with some exposure to weather. The VHT has slightly lower sheen due to the tight wrinkles. The color is closer than it seems in this pic. It varies a lot depending on the kind of diffuse and/or direct light hits it.

Starter is in. It weighs about 1.5 pounds more than the stock 1.2kW.
A few pics...
Not sure if I ever mentioned this little part (inspection cover). It's meant for a touring primary so the profile is slightly off but I think it's better than the other options.
Pretty clean for a 20 year old, 70k mile primary. The PO took good care of her.
I didn't bother taking a pic of the starter since the battery box is out and everything is dirty and cluttered. It looks out of place being so clean! First order of business once I get back on two wheels is a good detailing.
