Print-in-place clearance test. Still tuning but I've got it down to .2mm (.008") clearance. Probaly closer to .15mm (.006"). Print-in-place is a bit bigger clearance than printing the parts separate due to the hot filament welding to close adjacent walls.

Printing a hard case for my 3D mouse right now. It's not a great design (not mine, BTW. From Thingiverse cause I'm lazy) quite a bit chunkier and less graceful than I would design but it'll work.

In progress. 3D gyroid infill. .4mm nozzle and .2mm layer heights. Printed threads.

Printed threads... That's really cool!

Very much enjoying the progress.

A 5 minute vid of the printer running this part. Silent (other than printer) so you can hear the machine. It's about 53dB (A-weighted) at 12" running in normal mode. There is also a silent mode, but I don't see the need.

All done. Perfect fit. Threads are nice but needed a bit of Teflon lube to keep from galling.

It's not a great design. Really bulky and the cord storage is awkward. I may design a clamshell like I originally had in mind. I have this mouse knocking around in my bag constantly and need the protection but I also want it compact amd easy to use. I'll give it a week or two...

Good work ... Nice to see it as a "finished" part or least see threads on the lower section now

Doing some fine tuning today... Tedious, but necessary for the best results.

Dimensional accuracy is about +/- .03 mm. Mostly working on cosmetics now.

+/- .03mm ... really?

yeah, I would think you could probably call that pretty good

I haven't gone bigger than 40mm...yet...but, yeah, a cube measures within .05mm in any direction and is perpendicular/parallel. The last couple hundredths is coming from some minor overshoot at the corners. I'll tune that out. If I measure across flats, avoiding the corners, they average about .03.

There are hundreds of variables that can be adjusted so it takes a while to find the right combinations and values.

Right now I'm still working with the .4mm nozzle. It yields a single-wall thickness of .45mm at a .20mm layer thickness. Ideal layer thickness is 50-60% of nozzle diameter. I also have nozzles for .15, .25, and .60.
