Default Thinking about another Wide Glide ...

I've bounced back and forth between an S&S kit in my SuperGlide vs a new Fat Bob or Wide Glide. I can get a killer deal on a new 2015 Wide Glide vs a new 2016 Wide Glide or Fat Bob. I ran an '85 Evo Wide Glide for 15 years and loved it. Road a new (ish) Fat Bob recently and loved that too. Had some questions:

I love the 103 HO in my Road King. Absolutely love it. But I've read the 103 HO in the Dynas is not quite the same animal. I road a 2014 Low Rider with a 103 and wasn't really impressed over the TC96. Anyone ridden a 103 and a 103 HO in the Dyna line? Was there a significant difference in torque between the two years?

There didn't seem to be any other differences between the 15 and 16 FXDWGS, but the motor. True?

Fat Bob vs Wide Glide for weekend day trips and bar hopping? In the twistees? I have a new Road King for long distance stuff. The new bike will replace my Super Glide for local stuff and weekend trips.

the 103 is canned up. the stage one lets it out. i hated my dyna when i first got it. the stage 1 let it live

not sure what changed here between 2015(-) and 2016(+) but...

cams? dunno... not worth stressing IMO but, i'm stupid.

Personal preference would be the WG. As far as the 103 vs 103HO, I haven't ridden them back to back to get a true feel for the differences. But IMHO there is a difference. Be it pretty minimal, and mostly in the upper gears, it is noticeable. My suggestion would be to snag up the 15 and use the money saved for motorwork. The new 110 kits are reasonably priced and worth every penny. And it's HUGE improvements over the 103 & 103HO.

I spent the past few weeks looking at 2015 Wide Glides, as well.
A couple different dealers, and a couple different colors.

Had some potential deals for $14,500 on the 2015's, but ended up with a 2016 and $2900 off MSRP.

My first Harley, at age 62 (about time!). I'll get my hands on it next week.

She's a monster. I've gotten almost 300 miles on her since the build was done. Unfortunately, work and weather have limited any riding as of late. Hoping it'll warm up in the next couple of weeks. We have a trip planned the first week of April that I REALLY want to ride.

I never got the Wide Glide or cammed up the Dyna. Bought a cherry '09 Buell XB9 and am getting back into track days soon. At my age it's risky, but YOLO. LOL.

Currently lusting after a Triumph Street Triple R for a fourth bike.

I have a motorcycle problem.

How do the final drive ratios compare? That is, is the engine the big difference or is it the gearing?

Also, I believe only the Dyna gets the A engine. The others get the B. I'm not sure how the balancing system works, but I'd suspect it adds a fair amount of extra mass to the rotating assembly. Equal levels of tuning should yield better results on the A, I think. Of course, I could be way wrong.

Edit....oops. I didn't realize this was an old thread.

haven't ridden the touring models, and the 14 LR is my first HD, however when on a trip last year with the wife on back and loaded with gear, never felt a lack of power from the stock 103 cid. only changes are S&S stealth air filter and a set of FL-VIED's, de catted exhaust.
