A little front end advice if you'd be so kind....

I am soon going to rework the front end of my 2014 FXDF and would appreciate some input before I commit fully to my plan.....

The front end is currently stock. The rear end has Hagon Nitro shocks which were a massive improvement over stock, but obviously show up the deficiencies of the stock fork setup.

My rough plan is to fit Ricor Intimidators, aftermarket straight rate springs and some form of preload adjusters at the top.

I already have the Ricor Intimidators, but don't have the springs or adjusters yet.

Looking at RaceTech's website, they recommend a 1.1Kg/mm spring for my weight and riding style, versus the factory 0.96Kg/mm springs. Fair enough....now I just need to find somebody who sells those here in the UK.

As for the preload adjusters, any thoughts on who makes good ones - was looking at RSD, but not wedded to that idea and RSD stuff is expensive....

One question with fitting all this stuff - I had read previously that it was all pretty much drop in, but that you needed to cut the stock spacers down by the same length as that of the Intimidators - is that correct? Also, if I use preload adjusters as well, then presumably the spacers should be cut down by the length of the Intimidators, plus that of the adjusters?

Any thoughts on this potential setup - or recommendations for something better to do?

You are correct that you can simply cut the spacers down the length of the intiminators, but if using preloaded adjusters I'd recommend cutting a little bit more which will allow an easier install (less spring pressure against you threading the adjusters on and then simply tighten them).

I have the RSD adjusters and I like them very much. Best looking of the bunch but hard to keep from marring when installing or removing. The adjusters help with setting sag but I haven't touched them much since.

As for something better, you certainly can't go wrong with the new Ohlins set ups which may be more reasonably priced in your neck of the woods. Then you could sell your intiminators. But bang for the buck I think you are going in what's probably the best option.

Speed Merchant preload adjusters are great as well.

I have a 14 fxdb about to do my front end tomorrow. I am no expert. Just preference and stuff I read. I went with speed merchant adjusters I liked it had a simple bolt head. Intimidators, suppose to have better technology. Traxxion single rate springs, read single rate spring go good with the intimidators. Also went 2" over stock tubes just for some clearence.

Sell intiminators get real cartridges. You won't regret
