Default LED Turn Signal Help

Hey guys,

I'm wanting to add LED fork mounted turn signals to my bike. Specifically these, or possibly Mirrors with LED turn signals:

http://www.revzilla.com/motorcycle/j...ks#fitment_tab

If you look on the Fitments info for these things, it says "A load equalizer and turn signal flasher may be required"

I have a 2015 Street Bob. Anyone know what this means, or if I'll need it or anything else to make LED signals work? For mounted or otherwise?

on a 2015, you will not need an equalizer. ecu handles the the load difference.

on older bikes. the system would think that the lowered draw of the LEDs was a blown bulb. lights would flash quickly, so load equalizers appeared to "lie" to the system. i have on on my 2007 sportster. my 2013 dyna does not require it.

IMO the LED signal mirrors look cheesy and cheap, the fork mounted ones offer a much cleaner look.

But I went with Custom Dynamic replacement LED's in the OEM housings in my 2014 street bob and the only thing that is required is a "turn signal relearn" which basically is just turning on the turn signal do it's rapid flash something like 20-50 times in a row then it relearns the lower resistance and then flashes at a normal pace.

I have the Joker Machines on my '04 Dyna with the equalizer. Not sure if I needed the equalizer, but ordered and installed everything at once, and everything worked just fine. Like cvaria said, the older bikes needed them, so didn't want to take the risk with mine. I'm very happy with them.

On the 2015's I think you can have it reprogrammed at the dealer to recognise the LED's.

Thanks for the info guys. I guess I'll just get the turn signals and see what happens. Worse case is I'll need something extra that isn't that expensive.

I second the Custom Dynamics LEDs. You get what you pay for and customer service is excellent.

Running Custom Dynamics for about 6 months now on a 2007 Dyna. Only difference I noticed is that there is about a 2 second delay after cancelling the signal for it to return to a running light.

no need. it (the bike) will adjust by itself.

Too bad my TTS won't address that part of the programming... would love to not have to buy/wire in power resistors just to make led's work. My ECM needs to see at least 1amp of current draw or it thinks the bulb is burnt out.... did some testing on that, when I was tinkering around with building my own turnsignals ( future project)
