Nice job! I'd like to get mine sitting a bit more vertical also. Not much, just a little more. I've had a couple of instances where I parked with the kickstand downhill of a slight slope and I struggled a bit to get it back upright. I can stand it up OK, just not as "graceful" as if it were on flat ground.

I got on my old Voyager last night for the first time in several months. It was actually a shock at first at how little the bike leaned over with the stand down. I'd kinda like to get the Harley about halfway between the two.

Your modification is only to satisfy your wishes and not an improvement.
If Harley Dyna models where falling over all the time,, it would be an issue,, but that's not happening.
Heat and bend all you want,, but I don't think HD is going to buy the patent.
What he said.

Also it does lean a bit...but I rather have it lean more than less. U don't want some kid accidently bumping into my bike and knocking it over on there other side. It rather not have my bike more upright than it already is on their stand.

I would like a little less lean to my bike also. I put taller shocks on and plan to go even taller eventually. As we all know, a lifted suspension means more lean.
Of course what you have done is an improvement. It makes your bike more how you want it.
To the people that don't like it or don't need it, don't do it!

Probably simple mild steel bar and what is termed low carbon. I doubt there is any heat treating process or annealing after bending. Really doubt heated like you done and quenching in water would do any hardening to it. Only way to harden that type of steel is thru a process of case hardening the surface called carburizing.

I put taller shocks on mine and I'm short so it was hell getting my bike up on a hill. I did what someone already said and got the extension Bung King sells and itis working great so far. May just have a buddy weld a piece to the bottom of another one and try that out too.

When I went with a taller front end and rear shocks, I heated my side stand up and straightened it. It turned the chrome blue where I applied the heat. That was 8 or 12 years ago. The world hasn't stopped spinning, causing a state of imbalance which made my bike fall over, or break the kick stand. I guess it must work ok. Fak Harley engineers and chicken littlers.
