If you go to the progressive website, and put in 2005, HD, FXDX - there will be no 418 application that is longer than 12.5 inches.
This prompted me to email and ask about 418 in 13" or 13.5" for FXDX. The reply was that they did not have a product.
That's why I was curious how you got it done.

Thanks

I don't know why they didn't tell you about the 440 series. They have that shock in all the sizes, 11.5, 12.0, 12.5, 13.0 and 13.5"
Check out the link to the application chart below.

Ok I'm bringing this thread back because I will be attempting it soon. I know it's possible to put fxdx shocks in a new style dyna I've seen it done. Does anyone have any info on what goes into this? Direct swap or do I need to do anything else?

the top of DX shocks are thinner than others. so the upper shock stud will need to be changed on other models. Easy enough, mock it up, measure the length you need, hit the hardware store for some nuts and bolts. On mine I went from stockers..to Progressive 418's..had to swap the hardware..to Works Trackers..had to swap hardware again. It's no biggie.

Nighttrain that looks sick. Stock hardware no problem? Didn't need any kind of spacers or anything?
Didn't you have piggyback shocks before? U like the dx ones better?

Nighttrain how does it handle now? Lifting the rear and leaving the front stock doesn't throw anything off right? That's really been my only concern about doing this swap
