Pads come in a variety of prices & materials, and according to claims, cater to various customer performance preferences. Check out product descriptions on the various sites that sell pads and you'll see what I mean. As a newbie to this, thats what I did and then based my final decision on product claims that appealed to me as well as customer reviews of the product.
I believe the OEM pads are a basic sintered pad and wouldn't be difficult or expensive to match.

these are pretty good, just put front on about 2 weeks ago, and have this style of them on my goldwing for 4 years and work great.

Can't go wrong w/ EBC & Lyndall pads! I'm running the Lyndall Gold+ front and back w/ awesome results. I paired them w/ EBC Contour Cut rotors as well.
Also, wanted to note that I ran the pads for couple thousand on stock rotors before I added the new rotors.
