I just installed a Deviant Fabrications carbon fiber front fender...

Yay, or nay?

I'd rock it if it was given to me. Not sure if I would feel the need to ever buy one.
Probably doesn't save much weight. How do you like it in person?

Off topic: Did you put that fork brace on before or after installing your predator mount? What's your opinion on it?

My original quest for a fender really had nothing to do with saving weight, I just hate the gaps created by the stock fender. I thought about dropping it with new holes, but I still hate the fact that it's a radius designed to accommodate a 21" wheel. The price difference between the DF carbon and plastic fenders was pretty insignificant, so I thought it might be different (in a good way) to go with the carbon. It is actually MUCH lighter than the stock fender. Although that wasn't my motivation, saving unsprung weight is always a good thing... I think it basically offset the weight of my fork-mounted toolkit!

Unfortunately, I can't say that the quality of the carbon work is very good. Maybe I just got a beat one, but it's definitely not up to the same quality as some of the carbon bits I've used on other bikes...

But if you aren't really studying it up close, it looks pretty good... I like it!

I just love carbon fiber; all of my sport bikes end up covered up with as much CF as I can manage. I wear 2 different Bell Star Carbon Fiber FF helmets, so yea, I'm a fan

That lip on the front of the fender sort of has me going, meh; not quite sure why they went that route, it kind of blows the lines of the fender; but, that's just me

Keep it!

I love carbon as well, and I also am on my second Bell Star Carbon! Great helmet! I have a Triumph Speed Triple with rearsets and low bars and a bunch of stuff... I use a lot of carbon on that bike...

Looks like it's mounted backwards. I think the lip should be at the rear.

I would mask off the fender body and paint braces/struts/flying buttresses/whatever.

You opened Pandora's Box...now you have get more carbon fiber to tie it all together....unless you're not opposed to paint the whole thing...but I'd still do something with the braces to visually narrow them.

Just MHO!
