Default The end of tuners?

Okay, dramatic subject line... But this is of interest:

Obviously, the EPA's position on the users and results of using performance tuners is correct, but it seems like there are better places for them to be spending resources. Motorcycles can't account for but a fraction of a percent of pollution emissions.

I'll keep rolling old metal with carburetors, thank you very much.

Smile Harley Supertuner dilema

Harley like VW got nailed by the EPA for emissions violations but unlike VW they seem to be lending a blind eye when it comes to allowing tens of thousands of bikes out there to run out of spec. Yep unless Harley wants to invite a class action suit they should offer refunds or replace the tuners with street legal versions. What's good for the Goose is good for the Gander.

I feel so much safer now. Now that the EPA has put their jackboot on HD's throat the next step will be to go after the other aftermarket manufacturers; it's expensive to fight the .gov and companies like DynoJet and V&H won't have the resources to sustain a court battle for long.

Just more strong arm tactics from a government that has gone completely out of control and now specializes in bullying and there is literally nothing they won't regulate. Keep it in mind this November, one candidate likes government intrusion and intervention, the other candidate wants the .gov off our backs and out of our lives.

Molon Labe is starting to cover more and more of my life...

I'm with cggorman on this one... It sure seems like motorcycles are targeted enough for emissions and pipes. But, when I think about the amount of bikes and the size of the engines, can they compare with that old 2004 grand am with a rotted out exhaust? Or the diesel pickups that throw a smoke screen when the owner gets on it? Or over the road trucks? hell, what about the local dirt track stock car circuit? or NASCAR for that matter? Seems like they are stepping over dollars for dimes here. Just like the local state boy I heard rumors about - He's got a hard on for HD's w/ loud pipes - yet he's got a classic Monte Carlo with glass packs that seems to not be an issue....

Default Open letter to John C. Cruden

Open letter to John C. Cruden,
Thank you for relentlessly pursuing justice against themotorcycle manufacturer Harley Davidson. In this economy where HD is struggling to keep people employed and keep it’s many dealers open it’s good to see them PAY for these egregious violations of our EPA laws. Even though a modified HD still gets in the range of 40-48 MPG it’s not enough. Even though nearly 99% of Harley owners rarely put more than 5000 miles per year on their modified motorcycle it’s too much. It’s too much that 100 modified Harleys don’t equal the hydrocarbons in a year that one locomotive engine spews out in a day. Screw ‘em, take that money that would go to jobs and raises, those people that work there are just too dumb to be employed, they support the Harley Davidson AGENDA. That agenda that encourages people to get out and explore, to experience life, to see America from a different perspective, to bond with others like them. Screw ‘em, that is too much, these people need to be stopped. Even though most tuners are set to maximize the air to fuel ratio for maximum burn and therefore maximum performance by burning as much fuel as efficiently as possible, it’s not enough. Take them down, how dare Harley Davidson try and improve the fuel system so that the engines do not run too lean and need to be replaced prematurely (which puts even more emissions inthe air at the horrible plant that makes the engines). For that matter, let’s go after everything that people enjoy….I am sure that the plastics in playground equipment is just sitting there all day long emitting dangerous chemicals into the air, lets shut down ALL parks and demolish theequipment. BURN IT TO THE GROUND…we can’thave this kind of behavior. While we areat it, have you been to LA? Let’s make a law banning rush hour traffic, anyone caught participating in traffic should be fined.

Thank you for your service, thank you for helping to cripple a company, thank you for contributing to loss of jobs, thank you for looking at the little picture and taking (ahem) campaign donations to ignore the big one.

BTW, if you didn’t sense it, this is all sarcasm. You are a turd, go **** in someone else’s back yard.
