I was changing out my rear tire the other day and when I jacked the bike up I realized I had my jack under the oil pan on my fat bob. Noticed a little moisture around the pan. Pan didnt look harmed, but could this have caused damage? Any insight would be appreciated

 

(Always) Use a block of wood between the jack and pan - disperses the pressure

Uneven weight and pressure may have caused the pan and gasket to shift, and break their seal.

 

Better way to jack up Dyna bikes is by using the lower frame rails via "lift adapters" - avoid the pan.

I always lift by the frame, never the engine unless it's a stressed member.

 

Always jack from the frame. And also the oil pan bolts are known to loosen over time on every service we do we check the torque on the pan bolts dyna and touring models. Its a good practice to get into

 

Just Nick- do you know thw torque value by any chance?

 

8-10 ft lbs or 100in lbs same as all 1/4"-20 bolts on a Harley
